Amr Maher Victorious at Predator Fight Series; Accepts FOUR Opponents!

So, you want to be a fighter…?

On Friday October 12, Predator Fight Series Featherweight Champion Amr ‘The Falcon’ Maher landed in the Philippines ready to compete on less than a week’s notice, having only recently recovered from a knee injury. His opponent was slated as Ruel Rio, an eight-fight Filipino veteran, against whom Amr vowed to approach the end of the year ‘on a high’.

Fate, however, had other plans…

Saturday morning, day of the fight, Predator FS President Ferdie Munsayac broke the news to Amr that Rio was out; in his place was an undefeated fighter by the name of Willie John Benedicto. Amr, being the warrior he is, naturally accepted the change, beginning preparations for this new adversary.

The Benedicto fight would also fail to materialise, with Predator FS left diligently seeking a third opponent. Genil Francisco, himself a twelve-fight veteran, was proposed as an opponent, albeit having primarily competed in a lower weight class than Maher. Perhaps understandably, then, the Francisco fight also fell by the wayside, leaving Amr frustrated by the string of fizzled bouts and near-misses.

Lesser men may have packed their bags in frustration and headed home. Amr Maher, though, came to fight.

Having accepted all three touted opponents, Ferdie Munsayac and team were able to locate yet another opponent – the much bigger, heavier veteran, Sulpiano Laurio, Jr.

Amr accepted, and at last the fight was set. The tumult behind him, head possibly spinning from a whirlwind of names, faces, styles, and records, Amr made the walk out and returned with the victory in less than a round. A guillotine submission put paid to Laurio, Jr, and Amr Maher extended his record to 7-2, (1 NC), marking his second successive victory in Predator FS in 2018.

In one day, following a rollercoaster of emotions, Amr Maher finally got the victory he travelled 2,385 km to gain. Showing incredible mental toughness under extreme pressure, ‘The Falcon’ bested another fighter in his home country – and cemented his reputation as one of the gamest mixed martial artists anywhere in the world.

Congratulations Amr!

Saracens MMA’s Ahmed Amir returns against John Brewin at Brave 17 from Pakistan!

Brave Combat Federation has announced that Ahmed Amir from Egypt will return to action at Brave 17 to face New Zealand’s John Brewin. Amir previously competed at Brave 11 in Brazil, when he lost to Cleiton “Predator”. Meanwhile, Brewin overpowered Hardeep Rai at Brave 12 hosted in Jakarta, Indonesia beating the former IMMAF medalist by TKO in the second round. Brewin has developed a victorious amateur career before transitioning to pro-MMA where he won all of his three bouts to date.

Amir will be returning to Brave Combat Federation after his first promotional loss which also snapped his seven-fight winning streak in the past five years. Currently with a professional record of 8-2-0, Amir will focus on bouncing back by training at the KHK MMA Fight Team. He is currently trained under KHK MMA Head Coach, Eldar Eldarov with teammates including Hamza Kooheji, Hussain Ayyad, Gamzat Magomedov and more.

“I have started training at KHK MMA Gym in Bahrain under coach and lightweight fighter Eldar Eldarov. Training has been amazing and there are significant changes in my wrestling and striking which I am waiting to showcase in the upcoming event. I am not focused on my opponent but to bring the best Ahmed Amir imaginable to the cage and to give a fight to remember and bring a win for KHK MMA Bahrain”, said Ahmed Amir.

Brave 17 will mark the first time a global MMA event lands in Pakistan. The fight night will be headlined by a welterweight bout between top contenders Rodrigo Cavalheiro and Abdoul Abdouraguimov, while the co-main event features the return of Jeremy Pacatiw, as he welcomes local hero Uloomi “Somchai” to the Brave cage in a bantamweight duel for the ages.

Mahmoud ‘The Octopus’ Fawaz & Mohamed ‘The Executioner’ Gamal to Feature at Inaugural K1L Show!

On September 29, 2018, Kumite 1 League will debut from NSCI Dome, Mumbai, India. Among the star-studded line up, set to be launched by boxing legend ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ Mike Tyson, will be Saracens MMA’s own flyweight standout Moha ‘The Executioner’ Gamal (5-0) and lightweight ace Mahmoud ‘The Octopus’ Fawaz (8-2).

Undoubtedly two of the top prospects in Egyptian MMA history, Gamal and Fawaz boast a combined nine submission finishes from a total thirteen career wins, with ‘The Executioner’ also sporting an unblemished professional record. With the pair both ranked by Tapology as the number one fighters from Egypt in their respective weight classes, it was no surprise to see K1L’s Team UAE recruit the pair as they prepare to lock horns with Team India, who will no doubt look to make the most of their home field advantage.

Expect fireworks when Kumite 1 League debuts – and expect Gamal and Fawaz to try to steal the show as they face off against Govind Ale (5-1) and Hardeep Rai (2-1) respectively. Ale, a dangerous striker with three TKO stoppages to his credit, will look to stop Gamal making the most of a potential advantage in the grappling stakes – though that will be easier said than done against one of Saracens MMA’s most proficient and well-rounded mixed martial artists. Brave CF veteran and IMMAF bronze medallist Rai, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from a first professional defeat against Australian John Brewin, while ‘The Octopus’ will look to inflict a second successive stoppage defeat upon the man from London, England.

Get ready for these, and more, exciting fight announcements going forward as the Season of the Saracens gets into full swing!
