Fawaz, Gamal Make International Debuts For K1L; AboAli, Thabet, Marwan Compete for AUFC

Saracens MMA were represented strongly on Kumite 1 League’s debut show from Mumbai, India, with Mahmoud ‘The Octopus’ Fawaz taking on former European and World IMMAF contender Hardeep Rai, while Mohamed ‘The Executioner’ Gamal faced off against unbeaten local talent Govind Ale.

With both fighters competing on foreign soil for the first time, Fawaz and Gamal put on strong performances despite the external pressure placed on them by the partisan atmosphere, showing good striking and landing some solid shots in front of the biggest crowd of their burgeoning careers. Make sure to keep a look out for these exceptional international talents in the future, as the pair take all learnings from their respective bouts into future encounters.

But that wasn’t all.

Hassancito ‘Rush’ AboAli, Ahmed ‘The Silencer’ Thabet, and up-and-coming prospect Marwan Gamal all competed at AUFC 19 from Cairo, Egypt, with great performances all round.

With AboAli scoring a thirty second rear naked choke submission victory over opponent Mohammed Ali, Ahmed Thabet cruising to a lop-sided decision victory over Ahmed Shoukry courtesy of his multi-levelled kickboxing offence, and Marwan Gamal putting on a really strong showing in his professional debut against Sayed Mohamed, the Saracens MMA team showed their unrivalled dominance on the Egyptian prize fighting circuit.

We can’t wait to see what’s next for all five of these great warriors, and will be bringing some BIG news in the immediate future for the rest of the Saracens team…

Saracens MMA’s Ahmed Amir returns against John Brewin at Brave 17 from Pakistan!

Brave Combat Federation has announced that Ahmed Amir from Egypt will return to action at Brave 17 to face New Zealand’s John Brewin. Amir previously competed at Brave 11 in Brazil, when he lost to Cleiton “Predator”. Meanwhile, Brewin overpowered Hardeep Rai at Brave 12 hosted in Jakarta, Indonesia beating the former IMMAF medalist by TKO in the second round. Brewin has developed a victorious amateur career before transitioning to pro-MMA where he won all of his three bouts to date.

Amir will be returning to Brave Combat Federation after his first promotional loss which also snapped his seven-fight winning streak in the past five years. Currently with a professional record of 8-2-0, Amir will focus on bouncing back by training at the KHK MMA Fight Team. He is currently trained under KHK MMA Head Coach, Eldar Eldarov with teammates including Hamza Kooheji, Hussain Ayyad, Gamzat Magomedov and more.

“I have started training at KHK MMA Gym in Bahrain under coach and lightweight fighter Eldar Eldarov. Training has been amazing and there are significant changes in my wrestling and striking which I am waiting to showcase in the upcoming event. I am not focused on my opponent but to bring the best Ahmed Amir imaginable to the cage and to give a fight to remember and bring a win for KHK MMA Bahrain”, said Ahmed Amir.

Brave 17 will mark the first time a global MMA event lands in Pakistan. The fight night will be headlined by a welterweight bout between top contenders Rodrigo Cavalheiro and Abdoul Abdouraguimov, while the co-main event features the return of Jeremy Pacatiw, as he welcomes local hero Uloomi “Somchai” to the Brave cage in a bantamweight duel for the ages.

Mahmoud ‘The Octopus’ Fawaz & Mohamed ‘The Executioner’ Gamal to Feature at Inaugural K1L Show!

On September 29, 2018, Kumite 1 League will debut from NSCI Dome, Mumbai, India. Among the star-studded line up, set to be launched by boxing legend ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ Mike Tyson, will be Saracens MMA’s own flyweight standout Moha ‘The Executioner’ Gamal (5-0) and lightweight ace Mahmoud ‘The Octopus’ Fawaz (8-2).

Undoubtedly two of the top prospects in Egyptian MMA history, Gamal and Fawaz boast a combined nine submission finishes from a total thirteen career wins, with ‘The Executioner’ also sporting an unblemished professional record. With the pair both ranked by Tapology as the number one fighters from Egypt in their respective weight classes, it was no surprise to see K1L’s Team UAE recruit the pair as they prepare to lock horns with Team India, who will no doubt look to make the most of their home field advantage.

Expect fireworks when Kumite 1 League debuts – and expect Gamal and Fawaz to try to steal the show as they face off against Govind Ale (5-1) and Hardeep Rai (2-1) respectively. Ale, a dangerous striker with three TKO stoppages to his credit, will look to stop Gamal making the most of a potential advantage in the grappling stakes – though that will be easier said than done against one of Saracens MMA’s most proficient and well-rounded mixed martial artists. Brave CF veteran and IMMAF bronze medallist Rai, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from a first professional defeat against Australian John Brewin, while ‘The Octopus’ will look to inflict a second successive stoppage defeat upon the man from London, England.

Get ready for these, and more, exciting fight announcements going forward as the Season of the Saracens gets into full swing!

Ahmed Faress to Compete at WWFC 12, Welcome Askari Fight Wear as Saracens Sponsor

September 29, 2018 will be a momentous day for Saracens MMA.

At World Warriors Fighting Championship 12, from Kiev Sports Palace in Kiev, Ukraine, Egypt’s number one-ranked bantamweight and Saracens MMA captain Ahmed ‘The Prince’ Faress will face Kharkiv’s own, Denis Bondar at 135 lbs.

The fight will mark the European debut of the Saracens MMA team, and will see Faress cornered by Brave CF’s highly-touted lightweight exponent, Ahmed ‘The Butcher’ Amir. It will also mark the beginning of a crucial partnership with Swedish-based, Arabic-language sportswear brand Askari (askarifighter.com).

“This fight, together with this sponsorship deal with Askari Fight Wear, marks a historic moment for Saracens MMA,” manager Jonathan Butterfield told SaracensMMA.com. “Competing in major promotions outside of the Middle East has been a long-held goal for the team, so we are naturally delighted that WWFC have presented Ahmed Faress with this opportunity. World Warriors Fighting Championship is a stellar promotion that has been able to attract top talent from all over Europe, and beyond. We are very proud to be able to play our part at WWFC 12, and look forward to introducing Ukrainian fight fans to the very best that the Middle Eastern MMA scene has to offer.”

“We are also extremely grateful to the fantastic, hard-working people at Askari Fight Wear, not least Mr Youssef Issa, himself a true and seasoned warrior. Askari Fight Wear have agreed to sponsor Ahmed and the team going forward, and we look forward to making this a long-lasting and successful venture. I believe I speak for Ahmed and the whole team when we say it will be an honour to represent the Askari name, already a major brand in both Europe and North Africa.”

Askari Fight Wear has been the choice of champions since it’s inception, and has strong roots in North African martial arts. As well as the company founder, Mr Issa, being a Lebanese national, the term ‘Askari’ stems from the Arabic عسكري (ʿaskarī), meaning “soldier”. The Arabic word is a derivation from عسكر (ʿaskar) meaning “army”. Askari Fight Wear produce martial arts attire of the highest quality.

Muhammad ‘Smash’ Nour Claims Second Saracens Title in Seven Days; ‘The Egyptian Zombie’ Feasts Again!

In the wake of newly-crowned Predator Fight Series featherweight champion Amr ‘The Falcon’ Maher’s success last week, Muhammad ‘Smash’ Nour and Islam ‘The Egyptian Zombie’ Reda maintained momentum for the Saracens MMA team as they bested their opposition in scintillating fashion across both the AUFC and Evolution FC.

Nour (above), who became Saracens MMA’s second featherweight champion in seven days, outscored tough young contender Hassan Mahmoud on the scorecards, taking the victory (and the belt!) via split decision. A result greeted by jubilation by virtually the whole Saracens MMA team at cageside, Nour underlined his position as not only one of the very best coaches in Middle Eastern MMA, but also one of the most complete fighters.

Meanwhile, ‘The Egyptian Zombie’ continued his run of dominance with yet another first round submission victory over Egyptian national wrestling team member Azouz Anwar. As outlined by Amr Maher in his post-fight analysis, Reda transitioned through no fewer than eight successive submission attempts, before landing the fight-ending armbar and forcing the tap!

In a display of outstanding, highly technical grappling, Reda builds on wins at Phoenix FC: Road to Egypt, as well as a recent Evolution Grappling event. Check out the footage below (as well as the ‘Zombie’s awesome new highlight reel)!

The Night of the ‘Zombie’!

On the eve of Saturday July 28, ‘The Egyptian Zombie’ prepares to feast once again on sweet, sweet victory!

Islam Reda, who last graced the Evolution Fighting Championship BJJ circle with a dominant first round submission victory over Ahmed Mahmoud, posted yet another victory in an even more recent outing under the Phoenix: Road to Egypt banner. He will now look to add to those near-flawless victories tomorrow night at EFC: Clash of Heroes when he faces Azouz Anwar, a member of the Egyptian national wrestling team!

Having already dispatched two-time North African and Arabian Wrestling Champion Mohamed Ghalab at short notice (and at a higher weight class), Reda will be full of confidence heading into this bout with Azouz.

Still undefeated and with a perfect martial arts record across numerous disciplines, SaracensMMA.com would like to wish ‘The Zombie’ the very best of luck as he seeks to enhance his ever-growing reputation for quick finishes, dominant grappling, and an ability to shut out even the most decorated of opponents.

Good luck, Islam!
