Ahmed Faress Ready for Chaibeddra!
As previously reported at SaracensMMA, Phoenix 6: Abu Dhabi will see the Phoenix FC debut of Brave CF veteran and top-ranked Middle Eastern bantamweight, Ahmed ‘The Prince’ Faress (14-2). This is a huge fight for Faress, and one SaracensMMA.com cannot wait for.
His opponent, Chabane ‘Flyings’ Chaibeddra, a French-born Algerian, comes in with a 10-4 record at featherweight – a weight class higher than Faress’ most recent bouts in Brave CF and Desert Force. Faress, however, is never afraid of a challenge, and true to his word late last year, ‘The Prince’ remains prepared to fight anyone – even at 145 lbs!
No slouch himself, Chaibeddra forced highly-rated Swedish contender Rami Aziz to tap out in just 75 seconds at Desert Force 16, before a bout with German Lomi-Ali Eskijew was prematurely curtailed and a No Contest registered in his last outing in late 2015. Against Faress, Chaibeddra will be looking to bounce back in style – but that will be easier said than done against SaracensMMA.com’s premier fighter.
With 14 finishes from 14 wins, Faress is an extremely accomplished grappler with no fewer than TEN first round submission stoppages to his credit – including India’s UFC star, Bharat ‘Daring’ Khandare. He will be highly confident of adding Chaibeddra to his résumé, though as can be seen in the video below taken from Cairo, Faress isn’t taking his opponent lightly…
Indeed Faress has stepped his preparations up ahead of his Phoenix debut, heading out to Phuket Top Team in Thailand to further sharpen his skills (and gain a cauliflower ear – (above)) – as the old cliché goes, iron sharpens iron!
‘The Most Marketable Man in the Middle East’ Mahmoud ‘The Hitman’ Tahoun has enjoyed being included in some pretty exclusive circles of late, as the opportunity to share the mats with an elite BJJ black belt was swiftly followed by a personal invitation to Phoenix 5: Bangkok.
With a BJJ black belt lineage tracing back to the legendary Mitsuyo Maeda, MacDonald received his own black belt from veteran MMA favourite Marlon Sandro, on behalf of Leonardo Santos and Wagnney Fabiano of Nova Uniao. His tutelage and expertise were invaluable, as Tahoun stated: “He taught us many good techniques. He is a great grappler, and it was a fantastic learning experience!”
If that wasn’t enough, Tahoun was seen rubbing shoulders with the likes of the Founder, Owner and President of Phoenix Fighting Championship, Chahe Yerevanian (below), as he soaked in the sights and sounds of the world famous Rajadamnern stadium from Bangkok, Thailand. The spiritual home of Muay Thai, Phoenix FC had the honour of being only the second ever foreign promotion to hold an event within it’s hallowed walls.
At the event, Tahoun consorted with some of the very best fighters Muay Thai has to offer, including main event winner and Phoenix FC and WBC World Champion Panpayak Sitchefbuntham, the outstanding Muhammad Suhan, Superbank Rattanabandit, and more. In a video released via social media, Saracens Management’s own Ahmed ‘The Prince’ Faress called out Jordanian bantamweight Ali Al Qaisi, a Wushu stylist who competed in the 2017 World Championships from Kazan, Russia.
No doubt a clash between Faress, the top-ranked Egyptian and Middle Eastern bantamweight, and Al Qaisi, would make for fireworks at an upcoming Phoenix Fighting Championship event.
Translated from Arabic, Faress stated that:
“I have watched all Phoenix Fighting Championship bouts, especially in the 135lb division, and I want to challenge Ali Al Qaisi.”
“Ali, if you have real courage, and wish to face me, I will beat you.”
“Phoenix Fighting Championship, I will fight hard, and myself and Al Qaisi will set the bantamweight division on fire. Make this fight, and it will be a treat for Phoenix fans the world over!”
